Happy New Year, Team!

We hope you had an awesome holiday season. Here's a quick update from the Prems to kick off the new year.

Preseason Schedule

Our preseason schedule is all set, with training kicking off on February 4th. It was fantastic to see club members observing training sessions before Christmas, and we welcome your attendance at any of the upcoming sessions. A huge thanks to those who cooked on the BBQ for a post-training feed and to the juniors who helped with running waters – you were legends!

Coaching and Matches

Sam Ward and I will be part of the coaching team for the North Harbour Knights (North Harbour Wider Training Group) to play against the Moana Pasifika “A” team on February 15th. Several Silverdale players will be in contention for this match, providing a great opportunity to showcase their skills at a higher level.

Upcoming Events

March 8th: Our first preseason match against Mahurangi.
March 15th-16th: The prem squad will head to Mangawhai for a team camp, combining strategy, hard work, and fun.
March 22nd: In recognition of Frank Friconnet, who played at both Eden and Silverdale Rugby Clubs, our final preseason match will be against Eden. We hope to make this an annual event.
Season Opener

North Harbour has presented the draft draw (pending teams and field availability), and based on this, we will be playing Northcote in Round 1 at home on March 29th.

Player Retention and Recruitment

A lot of work is being done on player retention and recruitment. There is great enthusiasm from the 2024 squad, with some young guns looking to step up to Premier rugby and some exciting prospects looking to return to the club or find a new home. Watch this space for some familiar Silverdale favourites returning!

Sponsorship

Discussions are ongoing with potential sponsors in the Premier space as we look to finalize our front of jersey sponsor in the coming weeks. We appreciate the support to date.
